Just had a appliance repair place out to look at our fridge. Found out its the filter housing we just replaced 2 years ago . The check valve in it is stuck open causing a water leak from the ice maker. Im am beyond disappointed with this fridge. Its cost us a ton and its barely 5 years old . Im concerned that we'll be replacing the same part again in the near future. Of course all the issues started after the warranty was up. We unfortunatly lost almost a year of it during the elevation of our home after being flooded in Hurrricane Sandy. I will never ever again buy a Samsung appliance after this one.
I’ve owned mine for 3 almost 4 years now and this problem has been a pain for 2 weeks. Research shows many have the same issue and is defective. Apparently there was a class action lawsuit in 2017. I will NEVER EVER BUY ANY SAMSUNG PRODUCT AGAIN. My Frigidaire lasted longer than this thing this is the second issue with this unit. I am going to report to BBB.
samsung if you read this you should reach out to me and others to offer some sort of free repair on this given it is not very old at all
We are also a victim of the poor design & quality of the Samsung ice maker.
Interestingly, a few weeks after we bought this fridge, a salesman asked if we got the extended warranty. I said no. He said I'd be sorry. He was right. And he knew something that the sales people weren't telling their customers. Shame on the entire industry.
Ours has iced up 2-3 times already, and for some reason I cannot find a video on HOW to take it apart (there are many showing the ice maker ALREADY out) - very strange - are these videos getting deleted so that Samsung can send out service people instead of a DIYer doing the job??
This fridge's icemaker's behavior is quite erratic and the consequence is we are at great risk of ruining our hardwood floors. My wife will not be happy, but I think the only solution is to shut off the ice maker...
Clearly a very disappointing product and product support for sure.

Our RF263BEAESG just started with this exact problem. I've now chipped the ice away and cleaned up water below the crisper tray twice in the past 7 days. Today it leaked out onto the floor. Is there a way to turn off the ice maker?
@uservVloFV3TKS You should have an "ICE OFF" button on your display panel. Also, with you having this issue, it is possible that service may be needed. Could you provide your serial number to this link?
Hi I have a RF28HMEDBSR that started making slushy ice awhile back. I had a technician visit 3 times and on the 3rd time he replaced the icemaker. Nevertheless, it still makes slushy ice. It sounds like alot of people have the same problem and I'm not sure if my fridge is setup under warranty, is there an admin that can help with this?
