I would like to be included.
model number RF28HMEDBBC/AA freeze up and will not work. the reason it freezes is because there is a small gap between the refigerator wall and the "ice room" or ice maker. this allows the relatively warmer air and moisture from the fridge to enter the colder space and freeze as it condensates around the cold parts. this was actually recalled from 2016-2017 but did not include previous years. mine was build in 2014 and samsung will not stand behind the product and repair it. i had to pay 400$ to have it repaired on my own. I will not be recommending these products to anyone ever again due to the unwillingness of samsung to recognize that they messed up and missed such a design flaw. i am also contacting some social media sites and starting an outside forum to begin the proceedings of getting samsung to not only recognize this as a problem, but to rectify it. My goal is to get anyone else who has had this same problem with ALL models of samsung fridges to band together with me and get our money back. i will return and post my contact info directly here for anyone who wants to join me in fighting for the recall to be extended to all of the affected models, not just the ones that samsung decides to fix.
My ref make extra ice and i hate it. Because it produces ice beneath the chiller's drawer and it make me hard to pull the drawer overtime if you forget to remove the buildup of ice.
My ice maker freezes up, too. I have successfully thawed out the stuck, jammed, frozen ice and frost with my wife's hair-dryer many many times. It only takes a half hour or less, but were I an attorney working at home charging clients $500/hr., I would have lost thousands of dollars, working with a hair-dryer instead of on my real work.
So, I am close to giving up. Put me on the class action list or send me an icemaker or whatever Samsung is willing to do that will let me get back to my life without a weekly ice maker defrost.
Mocel RF263BEASR French Door--I know this one is almost a dead horse, however I know that people are still buying this refrigerator. We first started having ice machine problems about a year after purchasing the unit. Now it seems it ices up beyond funtion about every 2 months. So here's how we do it in our household:
1. Inititiate force defrost mode. Hold the "Energy Saver" button and "Fridge" button simultaneously until it beeps. Then press the Fridge button until the letters "Fd" appear. This is will begin the defrost mode. The fridge will beep during the entire cycle. The defrost will stop at some point and go back to freezing, so you will likely need to run the cycle multiple times.
2. Try to remove as much ice buildup as possible. If it seems too hard to get to in then skip to the next step.
3. Get a wet and clean towel and heat in the microwave (super hot) and then put into the ice compartment and wait. We repeat this several times until all the ice is thawed in all areas of the icemaker
4. After defrosting the visible ice, try to get the towl into the cracks and crevices of the icemaker in the rear of the compartment. There is significant ice buildup around the machine that you cannot see. If all of the ice does not thaw, the buildup will occur again faster and this will need to be done more often.
This should be all you need to do
You also may need to reset the icemaker (little blue rubber button on the right side front of the icemaker after you pull the drawer out)
