I have a Samsung Refrigerator Model RF263TEAESR/AA and it is about 1 year old. When replacing the water filter, water shoots out of the water filter connection. I have to quickly replace the filter or install the new filter to get the water to stop squirting out. I then have to clean up the water which was sprayed inside and outside of the refrigerator. This has happened the last two times I have replaced the filter. I turn off the ice maker prior to doing the filter replacement but that does not seem to help. I am looking for suggestions on what I can do to keep this from happening.
I'm not a refrigerator repairman but I would think that the filter plugs into a check valve type of connection. That should close when you remove the filter. Not an expert, but I would suspect that the check valve where the filter plugs in needs to be replaced.
Before replacing the water filter you should turn off the water supply.
