was sitting in the living with my husband  when he heard the ice maker start to run like it was dispensing ice.  he opened the door  to shut it off as it wouldn't stop.  he pulled out the ice bucket and  held the door switch in to see if it would keep running that's when he saw a flash and a flame in the back by the auger motor. he immediately unplugged it and kept an eye on it to watch for flames.  as it just smoldered he removed the ice maker components and these pictures is what we found.   I hope no one else has a scare like this.  I'm just glad we were home when this happened.    husband contacted Samsung support by chat to report the problem and get some info on whether we could run the fridge with the ice maker parts out of it.  1hour later finally got some one with knowledge to tell me I couldn't.    gonna have hubby repair it but not sure if I feel safe thinking it could do it again.

I'm going to be honest. Samsung makes great phones, tablets, and electronics but their appliances kinda suck. They get delayed delivery with no explanation, and they break easily. My grandparent's oven just popped and stopped turning on (they've had it for about 3 years) and my friend's ice maker stopped working on their fridge (they've had it for no more than 4). I have heard nothing but negative feedback about the appliances and customer support.
