RF32CG5400SR - Left door of French Door fridge pops open when closing right

I have two RF32CG5400SR french door fridges.  One of them, when I close the right door with any speed, it pops open the left, pretty significantly.  It is worse on one fridge.  I have tried leveling it, even tilting it back, so gravity helps, but that did not change the behavior.  Is this normal?  Still under warranty, should I submit a ticket?

I have an older samsung french door fridge also, that this does not occur.  This newer model does not have the long magnetic strip on the flapper like the the older model.   Seems like this magnetic strip of the older one really helps keep it closed.

Hello, milldoggy, Welcome to the Community! We understand your frustration with the left door opening when the right door is shut even after adjusting the leveling, and we want to help.

Here are some things to check:

  • Check that the doors are aligned- level with each other (follow user manual -starting page 34- link below).
  • Check that the flap on the left door is opening and closing when the left door is closing and opening.
  • Check that there's nothing that could be keeping the door from closing - drawer/shelf/contents sticking out towards the door blocking the door from making got contact with the frame of the fridge.
  • Check that the door seals:
    • check that there isn't debris on the door seals - clean with a lint-free cloth and a mild dish detergent
    • check that there is no area of the seal that's missing, compressed, or damaged
