KitchenI have Samsung Refrigerators RB1855SL and RB1955VQ. They look and work great, but the refrigerator compartment door gasket is cracking. The service manual for these models does not show a separate part# for this gasket, only for the entire $500 door assembly. Has anyone been able to source a replacement gasket or found compatible gasket material for either model?

KitchenHello, tns1, and Welcome to the Community! We understand the importance of having a door gasket that is not cracking to help seal in the refrigerated air, and we wish to help.
Upon review of our information, we would recommend reaching out to the Samsung Parts supplier.

KitchenI have used clear silicone caulk to repair the gasket in the past and it does work for a time, but this time the crack is larger. Since I have two Samsung models that would use the same gasket it makes sense to source a replacement gasket or even gasket material to make my own. Once you figure out how to fix the few failure points for these models they tend to last for decades. The size is perfect for older kitchens, and the style is so much better than the basic 'box' you get from everyone else. Its worth it to me to hunt down a solution.
Apparently there were at least 4 models that used the same door and gasket configuration with maybe only a color difference (white, grey, black). Its crazy that no one makes a replacement part for this very common failure.

KitchenOk, I thought you meant a repair. What you describe sounds very ambitious. My preferences:
1) Find an existing commercial gasket that would fit
2) Find some compatible gasket material to patch my split gasket
3) Use silicone to repair my split gasket (again)
4) Order a custom gasket from one of those online shops
5) Create a gasket entirely from silicone like Dr Frankenstein, and shout, "It's Alive!" every time it jiggles when I shut the door.

KitchenThe pictures of that part# show it is just a short gasket piece that goes to the freezer compartment. It is a different cross section and not suitable for repair of my split gasket. What I am after is the rectangular gasket for the refrigerator compartment. It looks like this one which does not seem to be available anywhere and I see no dimensions or models for it so I can check. Mine would be 38 1/4" x 31 3/8" overall:

I have looked at the door of the RB1855 and it looks like the gasket is not as easy to remove as most models. Instead of just peeling the gasket out of a groove, it looks like you need to remove the top & bottom cap of the door first and maybe slide the plastic inner panel out. A few more steps, but it may be why Samsung did not offer a replacement gasket.
Update: This door assembly is glued together. The only way to replace the gasket would be to use a razor blade to cut away the rubber and have a custom gasket made that is glued in place.
