One SmartThings feature I use in real life is Remote Appliance Control with my Samsung oven/stove.
It has honestly been one of those features that sounds simple at first, but becomes really useful once it is part of your everyday routine. With my Samsung oven connected to SmartThings, I can monitor what is going on from my phone instead of needing to stand in the kitchen the whole time.
I get SmartThings alerts when either the stove is turned on or the oven is turned on, when it is done preheating, and when the food is finished baking. That has helped a lot when I am not right next to the oven or when I am away from home and want to know what is happening with the appliance.
One of my favorite parts is that when the oven is done baking, SmartThings also sends a notification to our Samsung TVs. So even if someone at home is watching TV and not checking their phone, they still get the reminder on the screen that the oven is finished. That makes it feel helpful for the whole family, not just whoever has the SmartThings app open.
I can also use the SmartThings app to check the oven status, control the oven light, and adjust things like the bake time or temperature when needed. It gives me extra peace of mind because I can stay connected to what is happening at home even when I am not standing in front of the stove.
For me, this is exactly what makes SmartThings useful. It is not just about having a smart appliance. It is about being able to take care of things from another room or even when I am not home, while also helping the rest of the family stay aware too.
