Dish will not stay muted

Hi,

I just setup a new Samsung UN75DU6900FXZA. I have two input sources, AppleTV, and Dish Network box.

HDMI cable from Dish to Vizio SB-4051-CO Soundbar input. HDMI from Soundbar output to eARC (2) input on TV. AppleTV is HDMI from AppleTV to HDMI(1) on TV.

When displaying AppleTV content the mute button on the AppleTV remote works properly and content stays muted. Sound is played through the soundbar. TV annoyingly puts up a big box that the sound was adjusted but that's another issue.

When displaying Dish content and using the TV remote OR the Dish remote (which is properly paired) the sound will mute for no more than five seconds then come back on by itself. I went through every setting I can find but can't get this behavior to stop. What am I missing? Any and all help is appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for the input.

Yes, I confirmed the TV has the latest firmware. I went through the reset process a couple of times with no change in behavior. I also have made numerous settings changes, e.g. PCM etc.

I confirmed with Samsung support yesterday that the TV is not compatible with my Vizio SB-4501-CO soundbar. That doesn't excuse that the eARC isn't compatible. I got this lesser quality TV as a warranty replacement from Allstate/SquareTrade warranty service. It is going back to the factory and I'm pushing for a full refund so I can buy a modern and capable set.

Update:

After troubleshooting with Dish we find that all forms of mute while using the Dish input have the same issue. If I mute from the TV remote, the Soundbar remote, or from the Dish remote the TV will only stay muted for 5 seconds. Is this an error of the TV and/or the eARC input? Again, the AppleTV mute function is fine.

Hi there, Just to confirm, have you checked that the software on your TV and connected devices is up to date? If that doesn't help, I recommend factory resetting the TV by following the steps in this link:
