I recently purchased a S90F (77") TV and I am trying to download update 1131 to get HGIG on the TV. I see that I can't download it via the TV itself, and instead I have to download it via USB. I have tried over and over again, in every combination possible of file location, which files, testing different USB sticks, etc., following the directions and instructions online to a tee. No matter what I do, the TV does not recognize that there is an update on the USB. Is anyone else having this issue? Or perhaps know when 1131 will be available to download normally? It is crazy to me that such an expensive TV is having these issues, and why the update has not been rolled out regularly, especially considering HGIG was removed by Samsung.
Does it recognize that the usb is inserted? If not, try another usb. It seems it needs to be formatted correctly and empty of all other files. Have you used this guide in particular? https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10002051/
It does recognize that the USB is inserted, I have tried formatting the USB as well and formatting it using the instructions provided (FAT32, no other files, not putting into any folder, etc.). I will try to use another USB to see if that is what is causing the issue. Is there a reason why Samsung didn't just send this update OTA? Seems so odd that they would only send it via USB. Makes me worried something is wrong with the update itself LOL.
Not sure, they probably want to put resources towards devices that regularly need to be updated like phones and tablets(the real money-makers.) I think the average consumer probably doesn't not install updates on their tv. My tv has never had an update and I haven't noticed a problem. I use my ps5 for streaming, though.
