Saved Favorite Channels Getting Deleted

Hello,

I purchased a Samsung Model: UN55DU7200BXZA television a couple months ago to replace a failed Toshiba Fire TV.  We have the unit connected via wireless to the Internet for streaming, but mostly use it with a roof mounted antenna to access OTA channels.

We are in Florida, so are able to pick up a great number of channels, but sometimes, depending on weather conditions, time of day, etc., will sometimes have channels with a weak signal, displaying a pixelated picture or even just giving a screen with a poor/weak signal message.

Our reason for contacting everyone about this is when there was a instance of poor signal on the Toshiba on our "saved favorite channels", we would just select a different OTA station or stream. Later in the day, we would be able to bring up the saved station and watch it if conditions had cleared.

On the Samsung, I created a "saved favorite channels" list, but if I try to access one of these channels at a time when there is a weak signal, the tv "decides by itself" that this must no longer be a valid working channel and takes it upon itself to completely remove the channel from no only my favorite list, but also from my main channel list. When this happens, I can not access or find the channel anywhere. The only way I can get to the channel again is by doing a new channel rescan and recreating my favorite channel list again. This is getting old quickly. Apparently Samsung does not understand what the word "Saved" means. I never had this happen with the old Toshiba or other televisions in my house. If there is a weak signal, any of my other sets just does what it can to display but retains the channel line up for a later time.

I can also check to see if the lost channel is later available from another television, but the Samsung by then has completely removed it, forcing a rescan and reconfigure of my channels. All televisions are connected to the same antenna feed.

Also, I hate the new style remote that came with the Samsung, so I purchased an aftermarket remote with a number pad. I have tried to manually enter the lost channel using the key pad, but the tv will not even accept that channel number after it has removed it from the channel line up, even though I can access that channel on another television.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with OTA "Saved" channels being deleted and if so, has anyone found a fix or work around for this?

I contacted Samsung and they were NO HELP. Our tv is set for automatic updates and I manually had it check to make sure it is running the latest updates. A "Saved" channels list on any of my other tv's remains saved until I run a new channel scan. I thought the Samsung would be an upgrade, but I'm not sure now.

Thank all in advance for your time and help!

 Hello,

It has been a month since I first posted the issues, looking for some possible help or ideas. Here is what has happened since then. My post has had 377 views with zero replies. Samsung chat offered no help. I emailed the CEO of Samsung America and received what I feel is a generic reply apologizing for my disappointment and letting me know they will consider my suggestions and issues for changes and enhancements to future products. No help there either and does not give me a good feeling about purchasing another TV from Samsung and end up running into the same problems.

Long story short, we purchased a LG television with similar specs. This unit does everything we had expected the Samsung would, but actually does for the same price. The picture is as good if not slightly better and it came with a normal remote with a number keypad, allowing me to directly pick the channel I want to see, rather than scroll though, and I did not have to try and figure out how it works.

To say we are disappointed with our Samsung purchase and support is an understatement. Now we just have to find someone willing to purchase that television.

  • Our QN55S90DDF does the same thing, deleting OTA channels without “asking”, how can I get the TV to stop this apparently automatic action without owner approval.

  • This behavior, along with other questionable programming, means I will not recommend a samsung tv product to anyone.

Does anyone have a solution for this, is there someway to turn off/disable this “feature”?  I am very unhappy with this purchase.
