1000030388.jpg6 year old LED TV is suddenly getting discoloration "splotches" in the upper right hand corner. Having seen something similar on an old laptop, I assume pixels are dying.
Attaching a photo, maybe someone can elaborate and tell me whether this can be, and is cost effective to be, repaired.
Already bought a new TV (hope it lasts longer than this one) so it's not a huge deal other than, if it's easy to fix, I'd ilke to try.

I would simply try to recycle the item. It would cost ineffective to repair this for the price paid for a newer screen.

Unfortunately, this isn't worth fixing. The picture looks like pressured point damage. A few key things to remember when moving a TV: grab it from the bottom and middle of the sides. Never press on the screen, or bow or bend the TV, even slightly. Also, cleaning your TV screen with a very soft cloth, using light pressure and circular motions, can help keep the screen even and prevent pixel damage. The normal lifespan of an LED TV is 50,000 to 100,000 hours (5 to 10 years). You're within that range. I would just replace it. It's usually cheaper to buy a new TV than to repair it, unless you can do it yourself using used parts from eBay. You'll likely get a better TV for less than the repair cost.
