LED and OLED TVs

Whenever I turn on my new 55 inch S90F, it goes thru a series of displays before the station appears. First a bright white screen, then nothing, then a random screen one third  the size of the tv, then finally the channel. Every morning , though the sequence may change, like the tv is gathering the data from the cable box. It takes about 15 seconds before it finally settles on the channel. Samsung says this is normal. My previous cheap Q7F turned on normally. All updates performed on tv and cable box. Thank you all very much!

Your new Samsung S90F (2025 QD-OLED) shows this ~15-second startup sequenceโ€”bright white screen, black, small partial preview, then channelโ€”due to extended HDMI handshake with your cable box. The TV probes for stable signal (resolution, HDCP, HDR), while the box takes time to output cleanly. OLED panel initialization adds the white flash. Your older Q7F had simpler/faster logic. Samsung calls it normal for modern premium models.Quick fixes to try (most effective first):Cold boot both: Unplug TV and cable box from wall (not just standby). Wait 60โ€“90 seconds. Plug box in first, let it fully boot, then TV. Repeat if needed.
Disable Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC): Settings > General > External Device Manager > Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) โ†’ Off. Also disable any HDMI control on the cable box. This often speeds handshake and removes partial screens.
Change HDMI port/cable: Try a different port (avoid eARC if possible). Use a short, high-quality certified HDMI 2.1 cable.
TV tweaks: Label the input as "Cable Box." Enable "Input Signal Plus" for that port if available. Set cable box output to fixed resolution (e.g., 1080p) temporarily.

If the small 1/3-size screen (often a "detecting" preview or flower graphic) persists, record a short video and contact Samsung againโ€”they may push a firmware tweak. Many S90F owners report improvement after disabling CEC and cold booting.
