LaundryWe loved our Samsung electric dryer (model DVE45B6300P) until it suddenly quit working one day at about 2.5 years old. Dryer still turns on and control panel lights up. You can select a cycle and press start and the control panel thinks it is drying (the lights flash "drying") but nothing happens.
We contacted Samsung and they set us up with a repair company. The tech came out after a week and a half and replaced two parts because he wasn't sure which one was causing the problem. He also confirmed that our dryer vent was squeaky clean and was NOT the problem. Dryer seemed to be fixed. He charged us $507 and left (the dryer originally cost $650 from Sam's Club). Samsung sent me a text saying my "ticket had been cancelled."
First cycle that we dried ran for about 10 minutes and then shut off. Same issue. We called the company and the tech came back the next week and replaced a different part. This time it worked for six minutes before stopping. We were just fluffing some already dry shirts on the Refresh cycle. When I opened the dryer the shirts were EXTREMELY hot, almost as if the dryer was overheating.
Called the repair company again. They came back today with the original tech and a manager. Both were very nice and seemed to know what they were doing. They ran every test they could, spoke to Samsung several times (no help) and have now had the entire dryer taken apart three times. Still no fix. They said we could pay more to try switching out one other part, but don't know if that will help (they didn't have that part on hand). Also their parts and work are only warrantied for three months, so we could be back here again in a matter of months.
It's been three weeks since we've had a working dryer, and we've already spent more than half the cost of purchasing a new dryer (which is now $800 for the same model "on sale"). We are so frustrated and torn on whether we should even take a chance on another Samsung dryer. We loved the look and features of the dryer (and have the matching washer). We are also long time Samsung customers, including all of our TVs. We would really appreciate some assistance from the company. Is this model a LEMON? We realize companies don't make appliances to last like they used to, but a brand new dryer should last more than 2.5 years.
