Monitors and MemorySamsung Advertises G8 as G-sync compatible but it is only working with G-sync on 120Hz, not on 240 Hz.
I have an RTX 2080, Monitor running firmware 1003 (latest), connected with included DP cable and Nvidia driver 528.02
The monitor only works with G-sync in the 120 hz mode. With 240Hz mode, G-sync is selectable but it's not actually functioning properly in-game monitor's OSD-reported refresh rate (stays locked at 240Hz). And if you try to alt-tab you will get an infinite black screen.
Is there a fix coming for this? Otherwise the monitor shouldn't be advertised as G-sync compatible, let alone have the label on the product and the box...
More details below on the issue
AT 240hz G SYNC If you ALT+TAB out into the desktop from any fullscreen game you would be shown a black screen when you RE TAB back in.
You would only be able to see the game screen again by using the "window mode shortcut, ALT+Enter" This, Likely due to g sync set to fullscreen only, will revert back to black screen when enter fullscreen again.
Settings that cause issues:
-Enabled 240hz on the G8 with Adaptive sync enabled on the monitor
-Enabled GSYNC (Fullscreen mode or FS + Win mode) in NVCP
Testing done on Drivers: 526.98, 526.86, 522.25, 522.30
***Only occurs when GSYNC is enabled @ 4K 240hz***
***altb tab Issue does not occur when: ***
-GSYNC is off @ 4k 240hz
-@4k 120hz + G SYNC
SPECS:
Win11
AMD 5800x
16GB Ram Asus
X470 StrixF
Gigabyte RTX 2080 Gaming OC
Samsung NEO G8 Monitor is connected to 2080 using samsung supplied DP cable

Monitors and MemoryActually according to a few Google searches the RTX 2080 can't do 4k 240. It's supposed to max out at 144 so 120 is a good compromise. Do your own searches and read up on what others reported.

Monitors and MemoryActually if you read my post correctly The RTX 2080 can do 4K 240hz as it supports DSC, and I currently can run it at 4k 240hz. The issue I have is it does not work with 4k 240hz with g sync on. Both the NEO G8 and 2080 use DSC in order to work past 4k 120hz due to bandwidth limit of dp1.4
I have done some research and testing turns out its a driver/firmware bug, Where g sync bugs out when DSC is used with it. Nvidia are apparently working on a fix but no eta

Monitors and MemoryThe Neo G8 is not GSync compatible. It only supports Freesync PP. It doesn't even have VESA Adaptive Sync certification - pretty much the base level certification, which is a bad sign for a new monitor. Note that the Samsung S34BG850S does.
The OP says that it's G-Sync Compatible, no it isn't, it's not on the list. This is a big step backwards, not sure why Samsung would do this. I think maybe they mucked up the design or components and just couldn't get either VESA Adaptive Sync or GSync certification. Yikes.

"G SYNC compatible" just means nvidia have tested the it and it meets their requirements. But technically nearly all free sync monitor is should work with g sync and this monitor does Indeed work.
