I have tried a number of times to record video with no luck. I have formatted the drive and ran chkdsk for errors and still nothing. Any suggestions or should I write it off as a defective drive?

You're trying to record video directly to external storage? Which device are you using to record?

Yes directly to external storage with a Muxlab Video Capture Recorder. I have used other brands of USB drives with no problem.

If the video you recorded plays on the device than it maybe issue with the drive
