970 EVO and motherboard heatsink advice

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Hello,

I recently built a new custom PC system, FYI based on a Z390 Gigabyte Aorus Pro motherboard, along with a 970 EVO 1TB as the main OS disk.

Such modern motherboards usually provide M2 heatsinks that utilize a "sticky" thermal pad which (if installed) will embrace the 970 EVO's top surface. However, I'm not so sure if it is correct to have the 970 EVO's top sticker label in between its chips and the heatskin's thermal pad. What would you advise ?

PS: if you need some photos to visualize the situation, these 2 other threads might help:

The label itself contains copper to act as a  heat spreader and leaving it in place is fine.

Besides, if you were to remove the label the warranty would be voided.
