CRG9 Intermittent Flickering?

Had the monitor for a little under two months now and purchased directly through Samsung. From the beginning, I will get these periodic flickers that go horizontally across the monitor that happen at least once an hour or so. I'm not sure what they're from, and I couldn't find anyone else with a similar problem after Googling it. Does anyone have any idea what these could be? Is it possible this is a cable issue, or should I contact Samsung about a replacement? I remember someone saying that the Samsung Display Port cable provided is recommended over a third party cable.

I've tried testing the monitor on both 100hz and 120hz, both with Freesync enabled and disabled. The flickering continues in all configurations.

I've uploaded a video of the issue to YouTube and you can see it happen twice in about a ten minute window (once at 4:17 and again at 4:22): https://youtu.be/KVmwvwjUdtE

Thanks in advance for any help!

Have you attempted connecting different cables?

Another thing the monitor is doing is looking extremely washing out, with high contrast when it wakes up from sleep. Turning it off and back on again seems to fix it, but it still doesn't see like it should be happening. The left image is before turning off the monitor, and the right is normal: https://imgur.com/a/ZF0AJOz

Re: CRG9 Intermittent Flickering?

Frank,

I own this monitor as well and I also suffer the same thing! Although mine does not do it in video games that I am aware off. I notice it happening on desktop especially. I have tried so many things that I have almost run out and I am tempted to contact Samsung. One thing is that I have not been able to capture it on video like you did. I really appreciate that as I am feeling pretty dfamn alone on this and I know that they will think it is a consistant flicker, which it is not. It is completely random... Although it seems like when i bump my table at times it happens. Then I bump my table again to try and see if I can reproduce it and nothing happens.

Other than this issue I have not had any issues what so ever, no dead pixles, not a single ding in the monitor. my other complaint is that they have not cleand up nor added all software to the support site. By cleaning up and product lines and the product name is not correctly aligned. I have been waiting for some time, but so far nothing.

6 Drivers versions, lower Resoltuion, over clocking GPU, under clocking GPU, Stock clocks on GPU, Stock clock on CPU/System, underclocking. New cables, different parts (all ports). Swapped outlets, disconnected all USB devices and added them one at a time, reseated CPU, RAM, GPU. Differnt PXU, swapped PSU cables.

Side note, it just flickered...

Regards,

Tom

Re: CRG9 Intermittent Flickering?

Thanks i found on reddit a little solution witch works for me:

you have to set the samsung at 100hz and 10bit - and the flickering is gone!

My testgame is Resident Evil 2 - when you start the game it flickers.

On playing Watch Dogs 2 i thought in the loading screen "maybe there is a very slight flickering"

but ingame there is no flickering (before that the blue sky in higher regions was flickering).
