I just got this monitor, and when I set the OSD to DisplayPort 1.2, the monitor "blinks" (goes black, comes back on) at random times.

When this happens, "DisplayPort" appears in the upper left, as if I'd just plugged the cable in and it discovered there was a cable.

This is plugged directly into a 4070 Super via a DP1.4 cable.

If I change the OSD to DP 1.1, the monitor works without blinking...but is hamstrung at 59.99Hz in Windows 10. (But HDR is available in this mode.)

Any hints how to fix this?

Well...how about that? I got my new dp1.4 cable and installed it today. I rebooted my pc a couple times just to make sure everything clears up, but...nope; the screen still goes blank randomly. 😞

I checked the OSD, but it still only goes up to DP1.2, so maybe this is an older version of the monitor. I can't get support from Samsung's site because I'm supposed to go to the support site of the country where I bought the monitor. That'd be the USA...but the USA site won't support me. Sheesh.

I'll return this cable since it doesn't work, but since I'm removing it I needed to use another cable, obviously. For grins I tried some old dusty DP cable that I don't know the specs on or even where it came from...just one I had laying around. It's not the fancy, thin, "braided" type with 4K or 8K pasted all over it, it's just some thick black DP cable with a single "cableconnection" label (no specs), and...

...it works.

???

Seriously. It's been on now for hours at 165Hz and "extreme" response time, with flight sim screaming away at over 100 FPS the whole time, and not a single blink/blank.

I checked the OSD; still only goes up to DP1.2.

So, I guess I'll mark this as the solution; but it's really too bad that I have no idea what the specs are on this cable, because now I can't recommend a cable to anybody else with this issue. All I can suggest is get a $8.99 DP cable and it may work for you!

Thanks for riding along with me on this journey!

A bit of an update. I've found that if I choose DP1.2 in the monitor's OSD, and then use either the Nvidia app or the windows display settings change from 165Hz to 60Hz, the blinking goes away. 120Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz all blink.

Still need a fix; who wants 60Hz when we can have 165Hz? 🙂

Your monitor is a DP 1.4 device and any lesser setting to 1.2 or 1.1 introduces bandwidth and performance limitations.  The only "fix" is to run DP 1.4.

The only choices in the monitor's OSD are DP1.1 and DP1.2, so...?

Unless my DP1.4 cable isn't really 1.4? Is the monitor only sensing a 1.2 cable maybe?

Also, the monitor isn't actually disconnecting from the PC (windows 10); otherwise my other 3 monitors would be re-arranging themselves. So it's just the screen itself going black.

I'm guessing this monitor is defective.

Hmmm...that's interesting! I just found this site and looked up my monitor; I see this:

Maybe it's my cable after all. I've got a new 1.4 cable on the way; should be here tomorrow and I'll report back!

I just found the specs on my cable; it is actually a dp1.2 cable, but it's supposed to support 2k@165Hz: iVANKY 6.6ft DP Cable 1.2, [4K@60Hz, 2K@165Hz, 2K@144Hz]. Why that doesn't work is a mystery, hopefully solved by a dp1.4 cable.
