Monitors and Memory

I just purchased a LC49RG90SSNXZA display.  I know it's pitched as a gaming monitor, but it is the correct size and resolution for what I wanted for my home office.  I'm using it as a second monitor with my laptop when it's docked.  Prior to this I had two 23" Samsung monitors.

I really like the monitor, but I'm having an issue.  I can't find a setting that will cause the monitor not to turn off after a period of time.  If my laptop display blanks, everything I had on on the Samsung display is back on my laptop monitor when I come back to my desktop.  Is there a way to keep the Samsung display from turning off so my laptop doesnt collapse all my windows/apps back to my laptop screen.

I may be misunderstanding you but your issue is more laptop settings related than the monitor.

Have you tried adjusting your power settings and Lid closed settings on the laptop? If your laptop goes to sleep, it no longer sends a signal to the monitor to stay on.
