This morning my Odyssey Ark performed an update. 1420.9... unfortunately this has now caused HDR to no longer work properly. Not even after a reset of the entire monitor. HDR is far too dark on Windows, on all consoles as well as in all streaming apps. There are no more accents, bright sources look terrible. The only way to get around this halfway is to deactivate HDR Game in Game mode under HDR Tone mapping, which means that the picture is far too bright. Before the monitor had an excellent picture with HDR, now everything is broken and that with a monitor that costs €3000. I sincerely hope this gets sorted out as soon as possible. I wonder how something like this can pass the quality controls, I'm very disappointed. And by the way, what was the update supposed to do? EDIT: Two things i noticed on top is that the UHD notification is gone and in HDR, while there are grey colours, it flickers.
And on that note... can we also get manual for what combination of modes (HDR, GSYNC, Game mode, 165Hz) are supported and with which cables? It's like pulling teeth trying to figure out what exactly is causing me to lose signal every time I alt-tab a game. My last Dell 38" ultrawide didn't have these problems. 😕
Hello is HDR problem fixed or still there ? And does your ark also doing at 165hz full screen gaming if alt+tab black screen for 4 sec ? Also when quit the game ?
i have only 1 monitor but my problem is Black 3-4 screen while Full screend game at 165 hz and using alt tab please can you test if yours is doing exactly the same ? and what could be the solution 3 month already gone
The screen black out few seconds everytime start/stop games, or sometimes make an app comes to foreground is caused by HDR or VRR (Gsync) activation. I noticed whenever the ark auto turn on/off HDR or VRR, the screen will turn black with turning circle. This behaviour is similar to g9, but the black screen seems to last longer than g9.
Go to nvidia settings panel, under Gsync, turn off windowed mode. This will make sure some apps (e.g- Surfshark VPN) you use won't turn on VRR.
It is absolutely mental to me Samsung released a firmware update that broke a $3000 monitor and haven't so much as commented on the issue. I will never, in my life purchase another Samsung product - I cannot believe the lack of care.
I'm done with anything Samsung, thismonitor just can't even update Nvidia drivers without it out and losing the picture because it lacks the ability to auto adjust it's refresh rate and the worst thing is I have 2 of these junk behemoths.
8 month now and still no update. Broken HDR, flickering on white and grey colors and other things not working. Mods are editing posts here but noone is giving an update. Will there be an update, is someone at Samsung working on a solution? For me this monitor was the last Samsung product.
I'm forced to run the screen at 120hz to mitigate some of the issues I'm having, all the flickering, loss of signal, corrupted image (this still remains sometimes when I turn on the PC, have to reconnect the cable and it sorts itself out.), if I use multi-view my PC image is all messed up, looks like a HDR related issue. Even when watching Prime the other day there was a slightly choppy image when the camera was panning, this was in film maker mode...I feel like all the positives are slowly going down the drain.
