Hey everyone,
I'm using a Samsung Odyssey G5 with my PlayStation 5, and I'm experiencing a frustrating issue:
In the PS5 menu or in single-player games, everything runs at 2160p / 60 Hz, and my custom filter settings (contrast, color, etc.) look great.
But when I launch a game that supports 1440p / 120 Hz (like Rainbow Six Siege), the PS5 switches resolution and refresh rate.
The screen goes black for a second, I see the HDMI popup – and then all my image settings look completely different.
Important:
The filter values (e.g. contrast = 70) are still there – but the image becomes noticeably darker and colder, like the monitor is using a completely different internal color or gamma profile. Whites become grayer, contrast feels weaker, and the whole image feels off – even though I didn’t change anything manually.
I can manually re-adjust the filters, but the monitor doesn't seem to remember different profiles for 60 Hz and 120 Hz modes. So whenever the resolution or refresh rate changes, I have to tweak everything again from scratch.
I hope someone here can help or has experienced the same behavior. 🙏
And if this is the wrong place to ask, please feel free to redirect me – thanks!
