I have the exact same problem. Have you been able to fix this?
(I'm running on the same firmware as was on the screen - for obvious reasons - and that is m-RG949CCAA-1004.0)
I have been looking everywhere - but apparantly all other screens come supplied with the proper way of upgrading firmware, by "Function key guide" -> "Menu" -> "Support". However - the support option is missing from me.
I've tried accessing the menu with and without a computer connected to the screen. I've tried with and without the USB-hub connected. I've tried removing the power-plug, in between, etc.
As of now - with the current version firmware - I have lots of issues connecting with my Dell XPS9570 laptop unfortunately.
I've also tried instructions from this thread:
- Download firmware update .exe file.
- Extract it to a USB stick. FAT32 formatted seems to work at least.
- Connect USB stick to SS USB port 1 on the display. See this picture: https://i.rtings.com/assets/products/MBOnEc4q/samsung-c49rg9-crg9/inputs-1-large.jpg of inputs. SS USB 1 is the port above the blue USB-A port visible in the pic.
- Open display OSD and put the cursor over Power Off.
- Hold joystick down for over 5 seconds. Down in this case means as if you were navigating down.
Still no luck.
Edit: I have now succeeded - by the aforementioned step-by-step instructions - to get the monitor to read the USB-stick. However it still complains: "No valid update files found. Please check your USB device and try again."
I'm currently trying the image "M-T9549GGAA-1010.2[F895].img" - on a FAT formatted 4GB drive.
Edit2: I actually managed to upgrade to version 1.007 by following the link to the image found on this page: https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/ddcaa9/crg9_owners_looking_for_a_firmware_upda... - For my monitor I must use a ".bin" image, and not ".img". The one that worked was: "m-RG949CCAA-1007.2[2D8D].bin"
Edit3: With the last update - things behave a lot better than before - so at least it is worth the hassle. But why can't Samsung give this information themselves? And why the different upgrade methods for what to me looks to be the same screen?
I have forwarded this issue to our engineers for investigation.

No need - I finally have it all figured out. There are 2 distinctly different versions of Samsung Odyssey 49" 5K screen.
This is the screen I bought, according to my receipt: "Samsung Odyssey 5K C49RG90S 49". That is not the same screen I get if I search for Odyssey G9 on Samsungs pages. I was not aware that there exists multiple versions. And the one I have does NOT support 240Hz. And it has a different way of upgrading than the one that pops up for all my searches. THIS is the product-page of a product that matches best to what I am experiencing that I have:
And this is the version that everyone gets if they search for Odyssey 9G:
As you can see they look very similar superficially - however they are still two separate beasts. Having among other things different upgrade-paths.
This was REALLY confusing - but I assume I have solved the upgrade issue for both myself and for the Original Poster. No need to call technicians for this.
Edit: all is still not well - i have some issues with hdmi after screen goes into sleep, etc, etc - but those issues will get their own topic eventually.
