Samsung g9 Monitor

I Have just brought samsung g9 monitor but when i choose source to display port all i get is the windos back ground and task bar when i load a game i can hear it but not see it nay ideas guys.

Sounds like the Windows Display settings are a bit confused as to which monitor does what.
