Hi, I have a very specific niggle.
I've a pair of LU28R55 monitors connected to a docking station for my laptop. Both displays work perfectly - no complaints there. These monitors both have a 3.5mm jack for audio out. I've connected my Creative speakers to the first monitor only.
When I look under "System > Sound" in Windows 11, I see (in addition to the internal laptop speakers) two sound devices: "LU28R55" and "LU28R55-2". The speakers work perfectly if I select (say) the "LU28R55" device.
However... if I go away for a while (long enough for Windows 11 to sleep) and return, quite often, no sound comes out of the speakers.
Sometimes I can get the speakers working again by turning monitors off and on again... though this doesn't work reliably every time. I can also get sound working again if I switch the default audio device from "LU28R55" to "LU28R55-2" - but, when the machine next sleeps, seemingly at random, sometimes, sound stops working - requiring me to switch the default back to "LU28R55"... which, again, only provides a temporary fix.
I don't believe the problem is that the Windows PC is unable to determine which monitor is which... as my screen-layout is unaffected... my left and right screens do not switch over... but the association of the audio devices for "LU28R55" and "LU28R55-2" with actual hardware seem to arbitrarily switch places when my OS sleeps.
Is this a known issue? I imagine users of a single LU28R55 monitor would have no difficulty - this only seems to be an issue when more than one LU28R55 monitor is attached. Windows 11 reports that the 'Provider' is "Intel(R) Corporation" and gives a driver date of "29/04/2024" and a driver version "10.27.0.14" - Windows says there are no updates available. Is this the correct driver?

Monitors and MemoryšNo... my docking station doesn't provide audio-out. I'm aware that I could add another USB (or blue-tooth) sound-card, and use that in place of the audio capabilities of my monitors. This would (almost certainly) work around the problem - but it's not an ideal strategy. I would like to be able to use the hardware I already have on my desk - rather than buy additional hardware.
Since posting, I've discovered a new failure mode. Sometimes after waking the laptop, neither sound device associates with my first monitor - and only turning it off-and-on again (rather than switching devices in Windows configuration) makes audio work again in this scenario. It certainly looks like a fault with either firmware, or drivers, or - perhaps - both.
The monitor "Information" shows:
LU28R550UQUXEN S/N: CWFYH4ZN101077L [ CWFYH4ZN101097F - for second monitor ]
Current Version: M-R5528UGDA-1001.1
