The Samsung Messages application will be discontinued in July 2026. Upgrade to Google Messages as your default messaging app today to maintain a consistent messaging experience on Android. Please check the Samsung Messages app for the exact date when service will be discontinued. Users of an older Android OS (Android 11 or lower) are not affected by this End of Service.
Switch to Google Messages for the following upgrades:
Powerful Security - Al-powered scam detection and robust spam filters identify and block suspicious texts to help keep your inbox clean and your personal information safer.
RCS Messaging - With RCS enabled across Android and iOS, you and your friends can share high-quality photos and videos, enhance your group chats, see real-time typing indicators, and more.
Please note: For cross OS communications all members must have RCS enabled. For Android this requires Google Messages. For iPhone it requires iOS 18 or later.
Expressive Al Features - Access powerful Gemini features to bring Al-powered expressivity to your chats, including remixing photos and smart replies.
Multi-Device Connectivity - Switch chats between your phone, tablet or smart watch (Galaxy Watch4 or newer required) without any interruption.
Your making a huge mistake in discontinuing your messenger and switching to Google messages ive had nothing but issues with Google messages but when I use Samsung messages everything works perfectly fine
You are going to loose a lot of customers if you discontinue Samsung Messages app. I know there are other options available but none comes close to Samsung Messages. I doubt if I will ever use Google Messages.
Yah. So instead of having a stable built in app that actually works, let's force people over to an app that will need to be constantly updated or uninstalled/reinstalled to work right.
This is a very bad idea. Google is full of spam and bots and now you are forcing all your customers to be exposed to them. Secondly I like Samsung messages it's a great app why would you kill it
For many loyal Galaxy users, Samsung Messages is a cornerstone of the One UI experience. It offers a level of design cohesion, usability, and aesthetic integration that Google Messages simply cannot match. While Google’s offering feels like a generic, third-party addition, Samsung Messages feels like a native part of the ecosystem, specifically optimized for Galaxy hardware and the One UI design language

I have no interest in Google messages. When I got my new galaxy S25 I made sure it used Samsung messaging I like how it works and do not want to change.
Samsung is always known for options and customization.
It's a basic app; it must be from Samsung, not from a third-party company. The cancellation of Samsung Messages was a bad decision, and I hope it's not the start of getting rid of other Samsung apps like Wallet, Phone, Gallery, Email, and Calendar.
If this happens I will no longer purchase Samsung. I have been a customer since 2013. I will not use Google Messages and will use 3rd party SMS app until I replace key Galaxy phone if this update goes through. I hate the UI and functionality of Google Messages and want to keep my phone account, messages, contact separate from my Google account
Google messaging sucks! There is little to no customization available. You can't even change the color of the text bubbles consistently. They make you go through each text thread one at a time, and you can't even change the colors for every contact. Idk what the point of making everyone use Google messaging is, but it is a serious downgrade from Samsung messages and the discontinuation of the app is a huge mistake.
No one ask for this! Nor is happy with the ENFORCED DOWNGRADE!!! There are serious changes that needs to be made to the Google messages app before the end of the month if you expect people to move and still support your services!! Privacy and Functionality, for starters!
I do not want Google messaging. I don't trust them. Their security will likely decide that innocent messages from my friends are not safe and will delete them before I can see them. Google spies on us. You made a bad deal with Google, and your customers are being punished for it. I like your Samsung messaging. Please keep it.
How did Samsung decide to switch to Google? Did you consult your users? If we want Google, we wouldn't have brought Samsung. What information and Data you will be providing to Google? Please DO NOT SHARE MY DATA WITH GOOGLE. if you want to discontinue your message service, provide users with options. 😡
It is not an upgrade, it is a downgrade because Samsung messages is compatible, customizable, and the best. The first time I am considering switching to apple. If I wanted Google messaging I would of bought a Google phone. I have been Samsung from the beginning and when I could theme everything I was ecstatic and I have kept the note phones since the first note, but you ended that and made it a s series. What else will you take from us Samsung. You are pushing your loyal to the competitors. If I can no longer fully customize my phone why do I need that particular brand?
I hate the Google message app Just switched to it today so I would not be too shocked when July hits. If this is what I have to deal with I may be trading in my phone and getting something else. Samsung messaging was excellent!! I hope they don't decide to switch their calendar. I hate Google calendar also. None of their stuff is user friendly. Samsung is so easy to use and laid out so much better. What is wrong with you Samsung? Do you not realize what a gem you have in your apps? One interesting thing I have run across, I had my son saved under his name and also under in case of emergency. When Google transferred it over, They saved him as "in case of emergency" could not even get it to bring up his name or his photo. Had to edit this listing to add his name. I guess they don't offer a place to list ICE.
I absolutely hate that Samsung is forcing us to use Google messaging app. we are losing the ability to categorize text list. As a business owner, I rely heavily on this. This is a betrayal from Samsung, I buy their products because I expect good service. Extremely disappointed.
Not happy at all. If I had wanted Google messaging I would have started using it years ago. Being forced to now is aggravating. You are making a huge mistake. Samsung should have its own messages!!!! Bring it back!!!
I've been a loyal Samsung customer since the GalaxyS1 was released in 2010. If I wanted a google operating system, I'd have a google phone.
Your operating system is far superior compared to google- please don't discontinue the messaging service and force us into a 3rd rate messaging system comparable to AOL from 1997.
HUGE MISTAKE AS A CORPORATION. OFFSHORING THIS TO GOOGLE,WHEN YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS ARE PLEADING YOU NOT TO DO IT WILL BE DETRIMENTAL TO THE CORPORATION. I FORSEE A DECLINE IN TOTAL REVENUE FOR THE COMPANY FORCING SHAREHOLDERS TO ADVOCATE FOR THE PAYING CONSUMER.
