Charging Method For Battery Life

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Greetings All,

I am interested to know what everyone's charging method is to prolong the life of their phone. I am the type of user to keep the phone as long as I can so I am always looking to maximize the life of the battery. Samsung recommends the 80-20 rule (let it drain down to 20% and charge it up to 80%).

Does anybody else follow the same rule? If not, then what method do you use?

When you first have the device brand new and sealed it is best to fully drain it first and fully charge without interruption and do this for 3 cycles this will set memory in the battery how much mAh it can actually stored and then after that try to charge the battery when it reaches 20-30% don't fully drain it every single time but fully charge it and if it reaches 100% keep it on for 30 minutes because sometimes the system knows you are fully charge but the battery is actually still charging. And maybe once a month do the cycle once again fully drain and fully charge without interruption but this time only ones.

Also, when you charge your device overnight try to avoid using fast charge because any fast charge can produce a lot of heat in the battery and that can reduce the ions and some sorts inside the battery which overtime reduces the charging cycle so try to use 5V  charging adpater when charging overnight.

I'm mostly a 40-80% person. Most days even a bit more compact and stopping around 75%.

My phone is about 8 months old (240 days) but using the Charge Cycle Counter app, I'm showing having used only 151 cycles. My charge method seems to be working.

20-60 when indoors, then up to 80 when I'll be away from an outlet for an unspecified period. I only use 90% for times I want to refresh my battery stats. My laptop can cap charging at 60%, too bad Samsung can't implement that in phones.
