Tips & Tricks to Help with Battery Drain on Your Note 9

When your phone battery seems like it is draining faster than it should, certain settings or apps may be the cause. You can definitely use the tips below to maximize your phone’s battery life and get the most out of your Galaxy Note 9.

To start off, verify your phone, charger and USB cable have no physical or liquid damage. Physical and/or liquid damages can affect the internal components of your device, which can make your phone run much slower than it should. Next, your settings can also affect how your phone runs and its battery life.

Follow the below steps to check your settings:

  1. From the Home Screen, touch Apps.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Select Device Maintenance.
  4. Touch the Battery icon.
  5. A summary screen displays battery usage by apps.
  6. Once you see which apps that are using a large percentage of battery, they can be closed.
  7. You can also enable power saving mode from this screen that can be customized to your individual preferences.

If the options above have been explored and you are still experiencing abnormal battery drain we have a few more suggestions. These features listed below use more background data and can drain the battery faster than your basic standby mode.

  • Turn off Bluetooth or Wi-Fi when not in use
  • Turn on Airplane Mode when connectivity isn’t needed
  • Turn off Background Data
  • Turn off Auto Sync
  • Adjust Location settings or disable Location
  • Reduce the Brightness of your screen
  • Decrease screen timeout settings
  • Disable any themes with animations or larger file size
  • Disable Live wallpaper

If none of these suggestions seem to help, there is the possibility that you could be experiencing a symptom related to a hardware issue. A service repair technician is recommended in these cases to evaluate your device. Re: Tips & Tricks to Help with Battery Drain on Your Note 9

These are really the only tips worthwhile.

  • Reduce the Brightness of your screen
  • Decrease screen timeout settings
  • Disable any themes with animations or larger file size
  • Disable Live wallpaper

I would add to improve battery life, use dark themes or at least dark wallpaper to help extend battery life.

All the other "tips" might as well tell you to not use your device...

Re: Tips & Tricks to Help with Battery Drain on Your Note 9

Since the last security update my battery is draining twice as fast and charging twice as slowly. It took 4 hours on fast charging to get to 100% last night and I was nowhere near zero. What's going on?

Re: Tips & Tricks to Help with Battery Drain on Your Note 9

If you go to power saving mode and select medium power saving mode it will limit several of these actions also using dark mode/night mode will help save battery because dark colors use less battery power certain apps drain a lot of battery like games like fortnite also make sure you set apps you don't use all the time to sleep like facebook and instagram that are constantly running in the background
