Android Modes & Routines Drive Mode Doesn't Block Calls

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note20.

I set up Driving mode on the "Modes and Routines" Samsung app, set it to "Do Not Disturb" and set it to block any calls or texts from people not in my address book when I'm connected to my car's Bluetooth.  But, it doesn't actually block them, it sort of blocks them.

Instead, when a call comes in it mutes whatever I'm listening to (including the FM radio!), my car radio shows "Receiving", but there's no way to either answer or dismiss the call. My actual phone doesn't ring or vibrate and no call is shown on the phone display, but my radio things there's a call coming in so it mutes the audio. I can't do anything but wait until it goes to VM and then my media will start playing again.

So, rather than not being disturbed, I'm actually more disturbed since the audio is muted and there's no way to dismiss the call.

How do I fix that so it actually blocks the calls?

In the "do not disturb" settings, do you also have it set to Hide Notifications in the Hide Notifications submenu?

No "Notifications" sub-menu in the Modes and Routines Do Not Disturb area, only "Calls & Messages" and "Apps"

Has your Note not received OneUI5.0 (Android 13) yet?

This is what my menu looks like.Screenshot_20230303_233830_Settings_1000011711_1677915510.jpg

It has gotten the Android 13/OneUI5.0 update.

My general Do Not Disturb menu in the main settings looks like that, but my question is about the Samsung Modes and Routines app/function. The Do Not Disturb menu in Modes and Routines does not have a notifications sub menu.

I understand your confusion. When you activate the Do Not Disturb settings from within Modes and Routines, *this* is the Do Not Disturb menu that is triggered. It's not a separate function in Modes and Routines, it's just activating the Do Not Disturb system function.

If your Do Not Disturb settings are not configured correctly, you will continue to get interruptions while it's on. You'll need to configure the Do Not Disturb menu (you can long press the DND quick-toggle button in your notification pull-down bar) in order to keep from being interrupted. It's possible it's the notification pop-up coming through that mutes the music during a call. Perhaps blocking the notification may keep the music playing?

You can also try setting up that setting that lets you play audio from more than one app at the same time. I think it's called Separate App Sound. Enable it for all apps and then even if you get a call - you can route it through the phone speaker, Bluetooth should continue playing music.

I have do not disturb turned on, I have gone through the settings and set all the options to not allow anything through to not allow anything through, and I've also gone into the notifications for it and turn those off, however when I'm in my car calls are coming through onto the screen of my car system but not showing on my device. I can't seem to get do not disturb to have an effect on my car system.
