Can't add or remove apps and long press on home screen

I was holding my phone while driving and put it down and picked it up a couple of times. Suddenly I picked it up and my home put it down and picked it up a couple of times. Suddenly I picked it up and home screen layout, desktop was now all black with just the time in the upper left and only six six apps available at the bottom. Can't change the apps and can't add anything or remove. Help!!

Go into your settings and make sure your home screen layout is unlocked.
