Re: Cannot send or recieve emojis (Change input mode)

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Well @amanda95 ,got my hands on a inactive AT&T sim & tried swapping them out. It enabled my settings I was trying to find & I changed them to what they should have been. Put my active Straight Talk sim back in, went right back to not working. Tried putting my girlfriend's Verizon sim in my Note 8, flashed software to Verizon, everything worked as should with it in. Tried to put my ST sim back in, same situation as before. Reflashed back to AT&T & tried one last time... no dice.

So... here we are Samsung. It is a software &/or firmware issue across multiple devices. It is MAJORLY inconvenient to buy an expensive phone to only be denied basic features that are pre-built into said devices. As a longtime Samsung consumer [& somewhat of a fan], I have always put my faith & trust into your products. I simply just don't understand why you would want me to even send in my phone to a technician when there is NOTHING physically/ internally wrong with the phone. To be blunt, just feels like a cash grab for the company. It's software/ firmware related! Investigate & come up with a patch/ update!

@amanda95 it is the stock Samsung messages app that is affected. So it has to be something communication-wise between stock software & firmware & sim. @Samsung_NitOe1a  that's exactly what it is doing on my Note 8. Is your S10+ carrier branded or factory unlocked directly from Samsung? What cell service are you using on it?

Attempted to contact Straight Talk last night to see if they could reprovision/ update my sim on their end. Needless to say after poor customer service, I'm unfortunately thinking about getting service/ contract with AT&T, just to be able to use the stock features of my expensive phone. Lol

Features and specifications are different among different Carriers, especially when it comes to carrier specific features like texting. We've escalated the issue to our specialists but have no word on an ETA for a fix. The service repair option that Zell mentioned is the only thing we can offer right now after troubleshooting has been completed.

@SamsungCole , just being constructively critical, but as @amanda95 stated, if I can download a different messaging app & it PROPERLY send & recieve emojis through said app, then the problem herein lies with Samsung's software &/or firmware. If the problem is only on the stock, but updated, Samsung Messages app & no other text messaging app with my current carrier, sounds like an issue on Samsung's end, wouldn't you say?

I don't disagree, as I said, we have already escalated to our specialists but I have no dates for any ETA on when it might be fixed. You can go the repair route if you want, or as a work-around you do have the option to use a third party messaging app.

@amanda95 All is good on my end now. Dropped Straight Talk due to their inadequacy to address my issue. Went to At&t prepaid & everything is now working as it should & then some. Straight Talk needs to iron out their issues with their network. Their APN system & provisioning of BYOD sims is flawed. IMS is required to send Emojis, from what info I could gather & come to a conclusion about, & they seem to not care about it. Thank you guys for all of your help. Maybe if word gets spread, ST will do something to fix the stability & dependability of their rented networks.
