Texts - "No Subject" and then cannot download

JUMP TO SOLUTION

I just got a Galaxy Note 8 yesterday.  I am getting a bunch of texts that say "No Subject" and then, when I click, i get a message that the message could not be downloaded.  Some were from group texts and some were not.  Some were from people with iPhones and some from people with Androids.  Is there a way to fix this and keep it fixed?

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Here is my solution.  There were issues with Samsung, AT&T and the fact I was transitioning from an iPhone.

Per the note below, #1 seems to have fixed getting all of the 1:1 texts from people (I thought I was getting them, but apparently not all of them). #2 Fixed getting group texts, but only on WiFi. #3 let me start getting group texts over the cellular network

DETAILS:

1) IPHONE - When switching from iPhone you need to a) deactivate iMessage on your old phone; b) de-register your phone number on the Apple iMessage website AND you also need to deactivate MMS Messaging and Group Messaging on your old phone, NOTE: the attached article misses the last step:https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204270

2) SAMSUNG - I had to clear the cache on the phone and do a factory reset. Not sure if that addresses all of the texting issues people are reporting (i.e. the original article), but I will keep you posted. It also seems like I need to avoid installing google hangouts on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8   https://www.digitbin.com/fix-no-subject-message-error.../

3) AT&T Apparently, the "product codes" for unlimited data on the iPhone are different than the product codes for Samsung. So when AT&T transferred my unlimited data from the iPhone to the Galaxy Note, it did not activate cellular data on my Samsung. I had messaged AT&T (support chat) over the weekend and they missed it. To get this resolved, I had to go to the AT&T store and then have them get a product specialist on the phone before they figured this out.
