Powerbot R9250 Mapping & Coverage

[ Edited ]

I recently bought a Samsung PowerBot R9250 (SR2AJ9250WW), and I'm looking to setup the house/room mapping and also to see the coverage map*.

(Incidentally, I got the model number from Amazon's page (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L7TGOXO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which lists it as SR2AJ9250WW.  Is that a typo?  Should it be VR2AJ9250WW?

I installed the Samsung Smart Home app on my Samsung Galaxy phone, and successfully registered the vacuum with it.  I can control the vacuum from my phone.  But I don't see the ability to create the floor map or view the coverage map.

I've found this guide ( http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=665321&modelname=SR1... )

but my Smart Home app does not display the vacuum to be clicked on.  Namely, this is not the screen I see:

My screen looks like the one at the top of this page:  https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00066285/ :

* Coverage Map is noted in the product features:

https://www.samsung.com/us/home-appliances/vacuums/powerbot-robot/powerbot-r9250-robotic-vacuum-vr2a...

Customer Service couldn't figure it out--told me to reboot everything, uninstall & re-install Smart Home.

Any ideas?

We just bought the r7090 and I am returning it.  The mapping feature is not only a disappointment but borderline fraudulent advertising.  It doesn't really map or remember.   The roomba i7+ is released next month.  It maps.

@vrrrmmmm, If you select the vacuum you should see two options 1. controller 2. select and go. Do you see these options?

@SamsungQueNo, I don't see those options.

Here are screenshots of each step as I open the Smart Home app and access the robot:

Opening Smart Home:

Open Smart Home

Smart Home main screen:

When I tap "Robot vacuum" on the main screen, this is what I get:

Here's the view when I scroll down on this screen:

There's no left or right swipe.

Re: Powerbot R9250 Mapping & Coverage

I started the return process on the r7090 and preordered the roomba i7+ - that ships next week. I will only buy phones and similar items from Samsung going forward.  Their others products do not deliver on promises and the customer service is terrible . The i7+ has a real floor layout memory and its docking station empties the vacuum up to 30 times.

I have tried too many times to give Samsung a try for these other products.   They never deliver and the customer service to help is truly the worst I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.

If your vacuum is within the return period,  you should return it... look at the new roomba i7+.

@Davidsawyer:  Yes I read about the Roomba i7+ a few days ago and it sounds promising, but I'd like to give my Powerbot a chance first.  I'd appreciate it if you can remove your comments from this thread since they apply to a different model, and frankly they're not helping with my particular problem.  I see there's already a separate thread for your r7090--no need to add redundant information to this thread, making it harder for others to help me with my problem.

Thanks and good luck!

Re: Powerbot R9250 Mapping & Coverage

Does your vacuum connect to the old app or the new one? Samsung Smartthings replaced Samsung Smart Home except that older models may continue using Smart Home.  Since you bought the 9250 and not the 9350, I am guessing yours connects to the older software.

As for the discussion on my model, the 7090, please show me where a discussion  is about the 7090, not last years model or the cheaper models.  The new app for newer models, per a Samsung rep, removed the floor plan ... but they may add it back to the App required for newer models at some point in the future. With roughly 4500 square ft, a vacuum that can really retain a multiroom layout is a must.

Good luck - hopefully Samsung will not require you to use the Smartthings app in the future.

Can I ask which specific app it is that you're using?  Like Davidsawyer mentioned there has been a bit of change made to the apps used with the powerbots.

I am having this exact issue with my recently purchased 9250.  The new app(Smartthings) does not list the 9250 as being supported, the old app(Smart Home) looks nothing like these instructions claim
