I recently got an A53 5G to replace a fried S9+. I like it okay, but it's slow and has a few other annoyances. I'm having trouble with the camera focus. I always touch the screen where I want it to focus, and sometimes it focuses fine, but sometimes it just won't. Is there anything I can try? I looked in settings, but didn't find anything.041.jpg043.jpg

There's really nothing you can do. The camera on the A-53 isn't the best, but you can use different cameras. Like the shot your showing, you should have used the micro setting. But this is a picture of the sky i took last night off of my A-53 and it did a decent job. It's not bad if you use it the right way. 20220725_210201_2456_1658831303.jpg

I don't have any problems with scenery or people. It takes great shots of both.clouds01.jpgKolibri01.jpgKolibri02.jpg

Here are a few options:

1. Use photo and not portrait .
2. Use the macro as suggested by buckeyedman.
3. Use the magnifier camera (search in apps)

See different cam pictures of Macro, photo, & magnifier. 20220812_170526_5394_1660338405.jpg20220812_170604_5397_1660338428.jpg20220812_170752.jpg

I use Photo, never portrait and rarely macro. The problem I'm having is when I touch a location on the screen, sometimes it focuses where I want, and sometimes it won't no matter what I do. I wish there was a way to make the focus area smaller like I can on my Canon digital camera.
