I just purchased the A14 5g and I was looking for some form of pop up notification when the phone screen is off to let me know I have a notification. I am hard of hearing and use this feature on my previous phones but it appears that that is not allowed on this current version of the A14 5g?. Will this be a future software update because this is a major accessibility feature.
Hello, welcome to the Community, and thanks for reaching out! If you navigate to Settings (gear icon, from app drawer) > Display > scroll down and tap Edge screen > then make sure to toggle off then on (or just on) Edge lighting, does it work then? Make sure Show Edge Lighting is set to Always on.
Agreed- my only thought was that since they were trying to advertise and push the long battery life of this phone they removed it since I imagine it isn't great for battery.
Just purchased the same phone, tried everything, nothing, the phone may aswell be turned off... Unless your next to the phone, that's the only notification you hear, no light nothing, so you can have a message and not know it's arrived, unless you open or unlock the phone, any other phone flashes the power light, different colours for different notification, untill you see or read it, handy if you dnt watch your phone all the time, had to down load a app, which actually shows u a flashing coloured circle on the actual screen, even when blank, and locked, untill you open your phone... Why Samsung thought you would not need to be notified of anything is beyond a joke, perhaps that's how they make the warranty work, because you would never use your phone.
And no there is nothing in current 2023 a14 5g settings
Yeah its disappointing it is not included with the phone. - I also ended up getting an app from the app store that actually has a ton of features and different colors and works great. I can set how often it blinks to notify me. Still think Samsung needs to update this and add it back on as the light flash that is offered on it currently only flashes a few times- and you only see it if you have your phone face down, really poor accessibility feature.
