Messages are showing up twice when I hit send on Galaxy A21

Just purchased the Galaxy A21 phone. Whenever I send a text message, the message shows up twice when I hit send.  Not very tech savvy, is it supposed to do that or is my phone compromised? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the stock Samsung Messages app?

Have you attempted to clear the cache on the app to see if that helps any?

Navigate to your settings > apps > click on the 3 dots in the top right corner > select "Show System Apps" > find and click on Messages > storage > clear cache.

Also, make sure the app is up to date as well.
