My phone started downloading my pictures to " Restore backup " I now can't find any of my photos and there are special photos I can't loose

I am sorry to hear the pictures seem to be missing. I know important they can be. Did you have them saved to an SD card or to an online cloud like Google Photos or OneDrive? This article provides more information for restoring content. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00060517/ 

 

The only other option I would know of would be a data retrieval tool.
