I went to the Samsung store at Yorkdale looking for help with my Freestyle projector, and honestly, the experience was extremely disappointing.

My projector stopped working out of nowhere, and it’s very clearly not due to misuse — this looks like a manufacturing defect. Instead of properly supporting me or even trying to help, the first thing they did was tell me I’d have to PAY for the repair.

What made it worse? The associate literally told me that this issue is very common with these projectors, that they usually don’t last more than a year, and that the problem often happens right after the warranty expires.

She even mentioned that there were already TWO other Freestyle projectors returned at the store for the exact same issue — and the repair cost is over $400.

So let me get this straight:

A known, common defect → happens right after warranty → and customers are expected to pay $400+ to fix it?

That’s not acceptable.

I expected better from Samsung. If this is a known issue, customers should not be the ones paying for it.

Hoping Samsung actually takes responsibility and does the right thing.

Electronic devices often fail shortly after warranties expire due to planned obsolescence, where components are designed with limited lifespans to encourage new purchases.

Hi Kmicaa99, I’m sorry to hear about the trouble with your projector. I completely understand your frustration.

When we mention a "common issue," we simply mean it’s a symptom we've seen before—like a TV with no picture; rather than something rare. While I know that doesn’t fix the situation immediately, we want to help you get it resolved.
Since you're in Canada, I recommend reaching out to a Samsung Authorized Service Center via the link LongHicker shared. We wish you the best with the repair!
