QLED and The Frame TVsDear Samsung FrameTV Product Team,
I am the owner of a 55" Samsung FrameTV (2025 model) currently running software version 1203, which appears to be the latest firmware available.
I am sending this message as product feedback regarding the Art Mode user experience on the FrameTV, specifically the My Photo Album feature.
First, I want to say that the concept behind the FrameTV is outstanding. The display quality in Art Mode is excellent and the product fills a unique role as both a television and a digital art display. When configured well, it truly creates the experience of viewing framed artwork on a wall.
Over the past several weeks I developed a workflow for displaying curated photographs exported from Adobe Lightroom and imported via USB into Art Mode โ My Photo Album. When the images are properly prepared, the results look beautiful and very much resemble framed photographic prints.
During this process I encountered several usability limitations in the My Photo Album interface that make managing a curated photo gallery unnecessarily difficult. In researching solutions I also found that many of these issues are widely discussed among FrameTV owners in online user communities, particularly among photographers and art enthusiasts who use the FrameTV as a personal gallery. I hope that sharing this consolidated feedback may help inform future firmware improvements.
SUMMARY OF KEY ISSUES
While the FrameTV excels at displaying art, the My Photo Album management tools are very limited, particularly for users managing curated collections of 50โ200 photographs.
The most significant limitations include:
โข No efficient way to delete individual photos
โข No bulk editing for mat or filter settings
โข File metadata and filenames are not displayed
โข Navigation becomes slow with larger galleries
โข Image display settings sometimes appear inconsistent between imports
โข USB imports work well but lack useful gallery management tools
Addressing these areas would significantly improve the experience for users who treat the FrameTV as a digital gallery.
DETAILED FEEDBACK AND SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS
1. Thumbnail Metadata Display
Currently the thumbnail grid displays the import date, which is not useful for photography collections.
Suggested improvements:
โข Option to display filename instead of import date
โข Option to display EXIF capture date
โข Option to display photo title or identifier
Photographers often export files with identifiers such as:
001_Aspen.jpg
002_Summit.jpg
003_Breck.jpg
Displaying the filename would make gallery management dramatically easier.
2. Photo Deletion Workflow
The current deletion workflow requires entering Delete mode, scrolling through the gallery, selecting images, and then navigating back to the top to confirm deletion. For albums containing more than 100 images this becomes cumbersome.
Suggested improvements:
โข Allow Delete directly from fullscreen image view
โข Allow Delete via long-press shortcut in thumbnail view
โข Allow multi-select deletion without entering a separate delete interface
3. Bulk Editing of Mat and Filter Settings
Mat and filter settings currently must be applied one image at a time.
Suggested improvements:
โข Apply mat style to an entire album
โข Apply mat style to selected images
โข Allow users to set a default mat preference for newly imported photos
4. Album Management Tools
Managing larger collections would benefit from additional organizational tools.
Suggested improvements:
โข Sort photos by filename
โข Sort photos by capture date
โข Ability to reorder photos manually
โข Ability to create multiple personal photo albums instead of a single My Photo Album
5. Navigation Improvements
Navigation within large galleries becomes slow and inefficient.
Suggested improvements:
โข Page-jump navigation
โข Faster scrolling through thumbnail grids
โข Ability to jump by rows or groups of images
6. Import Improvements
USB import works reliably but could benefit from additional options.
Suggested improvements:
โข Option to replace existing photos with the same filename
โข Option to prevent duplicate imports
โข Option to preview metadata during import
7. Metadata Support
The FrameTV currently ignores most embedded metadata in photographs.
Suggested improvements to support displaying:
โข Filename
โข EXIF capture date
โข Lightroom title or description
โข Photographer credit
8. Slideshow Improvements
The slideshow experience could be significantly improved.
Suggested improvements:
โข Ability to set shorter display intervals (for example 30โ60 seconds)
โข Option to randomize slideshow order
โข Option to mix personal photos with Art Store artwork
9. Default Photo Display Settings
Imported photos sometimes appear dim or inherit unexpected settings.
Suggested improvements:
โข Consistent default brightness behavior for imported photos
โข Clearer separation between TV picture settings and Art Mode settings
โข Ability to apply display settings to entire albums
ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING-LEVEL FEATURE REQUESTS
Several additional features would significantly improve the FrameTV for photography and art display.
โข Ability to display image filenames in the thumbnail grid
โข Ability to batch-edit mat and filter settings
โข Ability to sort images by filename, capture date, or metadata
โข Ability to import images from USB folders while preserving folder structure
โข Ability to apply mat, filter, or brightness settings to all photos in an album with a single โApply to Allโ command
ADDITIONAL FEATURE REQUESTS THAT COULD IMPROVE ART MODE ENGAGEMENT
Hybrid Art Mode Collections
Allow users to mix personal photos with Samsung Art Store artwork within the same slideshow or album.
Smart Gallery Rotation
Allow users to create multiple personal albums and schedule automatic rotation (for example seasonal galleries such as winter landscapes or travel photography).
CONCLUSION
The FrameTV hardware and Art Mode concept are exceptional. With improvements to photo management, metadata display, and gallery navigation, the My Photo Album feature could become dramatically more powerful for photographers and art collectors.
Thank you for creating such an innovative product. I hope this feedback is helpful and I would welcome any information about planned improvements in future firmware releases.
