QLED and The Frame TVs

Good morning.  I have a 55" Q8DT, Model QN55Q8DTAFXZA.  I purchased a new Nintendo Switch 2 and have everything hooked up fine.  However there is an HDR adjustment setting through the Switch that lets you calibrate according to 2 images.  One will white out with a slider while the other remains visible.  However when trying to adjust no matter what I do I cannot get that to not white out both simultaneously.

I spoke with Nintendo and Samsung this morning besides searching the web.  A couple of suggestions that were recommended are not options on my model.  I was told to go into Expert Picture Settings and change 'Dynamic Tone Mapping' and or "HDR Tone Mapping' to off and enable 'HGIG' on the unit.

The pictures menu does not have any option for tone mapping much less any HDR settings even in expert.  It does have a listing for HGIG and that is on.  But the calibration still whites out most images.

Nintendo had no answers.  After being on the line with the Samsung tech he checked the specs and said with the HGIG my unit does not have any option to change the HDR setting and it is set at maximum by the TV itself with no way to adjust.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

First thing you want to do is turn on hdmi input Plus for the hdmi you have the switch 2 in. Make sure tv is connected to wifi and powered on. With Nintendo on Unplug the Nintendo hdmi wait 60 then have to one remote pointing at Nintendo plug the hdmi back in this should now recognize your game console and switch to game mode and adjust some picture settings. While in game mode you have all types of settings black levels game type Vrr ect including hgig if you want. After doing all this adjust your picture settings to your liking i don't really like using hgig. Now at this point if you still want to you can use the hdmi calibration . I think it completely unnecessary however. Those hdr calibration arr typically for lower end tvs with low peak nit brightness.

Thank you for responding.  I already had input plus applied to the port the Switch 2 is on.  I put the tv and made sure wifi was corrected.  Switch on, HDMI removed, waited one minute and then plugged HDMI back in.  It did not recognize my Switch 2 as a console but as an unknown.  But the first time it ever was plugged in it did recognize it.  Same with my Fire TF 4K, first time I plugged it in the icon came up but since then anytime I would have to remove it and plug the HDMI back in it comes up as an unknown device.

I do have game mode set to automatic so whenever I turn the Switch 2 on it changes to game mode.  I have also tried with game mode on all the time on the Switch port instead of auto.  I went through all the settings on this before as well as game mode plus.  Tried with HGIG on and off.  Went to the calibration and the same issue, both icons whited out when set at the top setting.

What kind of hdmi cable are you using? Have you tried other hdmi ports? Try doing a reset on your tv picture settings.

I am using a set of zeskit cables I purchased off Amazon. They are supposedly up to 8K and future proof but they got a lot of positive reviews and still do today. I also had people that was included with the system from Nintendo and I tried that as well. No luck, same problem. When you say to a reset of the picture settings you don't mean a factory reset, correct? What exactly will that picture reset take away?

Yeah same issue as me. Both suns disappear at the same time and the q80t doesn't have an option to turn off dynamic tone mapping. Plus the tv doesn't recognise the switch 2 as a gamingdevice like my ps5 etc

The first time I plugged it in source number four came up with a switch icon, red and white. Once I disconnected it and reconnected it it never came back. Same thing happened with my Amazon Fire TV 4k. First time I hooked it up I got an Amazon icon but since I disconnected it it never came back. When you go to the calibration screen does it start with both sons white it out for both images showing?
