QLED and The Frame TVs

Bought this TV 3 years ago and just the other day while playing a game noticed a persistent grid like pattern that kept showing up. I initially thought it was the HDMI port or VRR but after some digging came to find that this is definitely a hardware issue that seems to be common among Samsung TVs. Samsung recommends a repair but the panel itself along with labor is pretty much the cost of a new TV altogether. Did I really just spend almost a $1000 dollars just for it to last only 3 years?

QLED and The Frame TVs

Hello and Welcome to the Community, Tom5115! We understand your concern with the TV staring to have a display issue that's so noticeable. We are here to help.

Thank you for providing a photo of what you're seeing. We have a few things to try to see if the TV will correct itself or if service will be needed.

Based on the model information you provided, we listed the steps to reach the steps.

1. Run a picture Test.

Press Home button > Settings > Support > Device Care > Self-Diagnosis > Picture Test

 - Do you see the same strips/grid on the test?

2. Check for Software Update.  Sometimes the latest software update will correct an issue.

Press Home button > Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now

After the update is complete, check the TV to see if the issue is resolved.

3. If the issue isn't resolved, the last step before service would be needed is a Factory Reset.

*Record any information you'll need - any special settings you have, any usernames, passwords for app, any wi-fi router information as this will reset the TV to factory defaults.*

Steps: Press Home button > Settings > All Settings > General and Privacy > Reset

* If you prefer not to go through the factory reset yourself, our Samsung Customer Care team may be able to remote into your TV (it would require the TV network connection) to perform the reset.  Their phone number is provided below.

4. If the lines/bars are still present on the screen, then service would be required.
