Like many problems I've read about, many are just irritations vs permanent problems. I love my 2025, 75" Frame Pro TV but occasional quirks in the soft/firmware cause it to exhibit strange problems that won't go away. With most of the problems, it will not stay on a selected program I initially set and instead, automatically switching to another. For a fix, I had to power-cycle the tv. This meant I had to dismount the tv off the wall temporarily and unplug and re-plug the power cable to power cycle it. UGH!!   I eventually bought a low-cost wireless remote control AC outlet that I keep in the same basket as my Samsung remote. The remote lets me cycle the TV's power with the push of a button. The wireless control of up to threeAC outlets also let me remote control two lights in my viewing room ๐Ÿ™‚  It's an acceptable fix for an otherwise irritating problem Samsung has with their software. Hope this helps someone.

Hello and welcome to the Community, sinclair314! We understand your concern with the TV changing programs on it's own, and we want to help get to the root cause so that the TV will work without needing to power-cycle it to correct the issue.

 

We understand your current fix is enabling you to power-cycle the TV without dismounting your TV from the wall to reach the plug. We would recommend for all TVs to be plugged directly into a wall outlet not any adapter/smart plug.

 

Here are some questions to better identify the root cause of your concerns:

  • When this happens, are you watching Samsung TV Plus, Streaming apps (Netflix, Prime Video, etc), external devices like a cable box?
  • Do you have any other external devices connected - like a sound bar, receiver, gaming console?
  • Are you using the Samsung Remote or a different remote (Universal remote, using your cell phone as a remote, cable box remote, etc)?
  • Have you connected the TV to SmartThings?
  • When the TV changes to a different program is it in the same app/external device? (For example, Cable box changes from channel 4 to channel 8 by itself or Netflix changes to the cable box?)


Here are a few things to check for programs:

  • Try to isolate if the issue is caused by any external devices.  Why: Some devices have an HDMI-CEC connection with the TV, and this could be causing the interference (tv to change programs on its own).
    • How: Turn off Anynet+ HDMI-CEC.  Test TV by watching normally.   If issue continues, see below.  If issue is resolved, but you need the CEC connection, try to turn off the CEC feature on the external device or consider a CEC-less (pin 13-less) HDMI adapter which will isolate the CEC connection with the external device.
    • Path: On the Samsung Remote: Choose the Home Button > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > External Device Manager > Anynet+(HDMI-CEC)
  • If issue happens without any external devices connected, please perform a Smart Hub Reset:
    • (Please make note of any usernames and passwords before beginning this reset)
    • Path: On the Samsung Remote: Choose the Home Button > Left direction button > Settings > Support > Device Care > Smart Hub Reset
