Bought a new Samsung QN65QN70 to replace old LG TV in a surround sound system using Sony AV/surround sound receiver. As before, I plugged receiver's HDMI/ARC cable into TV'S HDMI-ARC port (now labeled "eARC"). So far, so good.
When I turn on the system using Samsung remote, the TV comes on and the receiver comes on, and the TV plays through the 5.1 speaker setup, and the receiver responds to the TV remote's volume control. All this is as it should be. But I also get an error message that an audio device requiring eARC is not plugged into an eARC HDMI port. I have verified that it is plugged into the correct port (which happens to be HDMI-3). Besides, the on/off and volume controls work--so why am I getting the error message?
Also, my DVD player is connected via HDMI to the receiver and it will not play through to the TV as it did before. It's as if the TV's HDMI-eARC port is only recognizing some of what's plugged into it. How do I get the TV to recognize the video input from the DVD/receiver and to stop giving me the error message?
And does this have anything to do with the difference (whatever it is) between plain vanilla ARC and the newer eARC ???

QLED and The Frame TVsHello, BP8, Welcome to the Community! We understand your concern with the TV not playing the DVD source from your receiver like it did before, and we want to help.
Here are a couple things to check.
Make sure that the HDMI cables seated well into their respective ports.
Make sure that the Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) is turned on.
Try unplugging and plugging in all connected components.
Check that software is updated for the TV.
Please let us know if this helps.
