Guys thanks for keeping this Thread active. Did another picture reset and now using Standard mode instead of Movie mode for last 3 days. Have not seen a Flash with my TiVo Bolt but had a big flash while watching Blu ray movie with ps3 still.
Im not 100% sure, but i may have finally figured out the cause and solution to this issue. Everyone try turning the sharpness off by taking it all the way down to 0. I tried this because i was having other recurring issues beside the flash on certain 4k discs. On one movie the black bars (top and bottom of screen) would flicker. On another movie (with heavy film grain), anything that was dark, black or near black would flicker. I have never turned the sharpness completely off before. always had it at 20 or slightly higher. Once i turned it off, all of these issues went away, and i havent seen a screen flash since. I think its possible that all of my other issues and the flash could be related to the sharpening level. If you think about it, if you have the sharpness turned up, the tv is basically trying to sharpen an already 4k image. I may still yet see a flash, but i have a good feeling about this one. I will update soon, but everyone please try this.
I have always had the Sharpness set to 0 and still had the White or other colors flashes. I just watched a Blu ray movie with ps3 and saw one Large flash. Thought maybe new 1260 firmware was the fix. Can someone tell me when they do the Picture test with kids on the beach and select Yes do you see Grey screen?
OH no. I guess 0 sharpness just fixed my other issues then. I will assume a flash is coming soon. I'm sure I was just getting my hopes up cuz this flash has become one of most annoying things in my recent memory. And yes I get the grey screen on the picture test after the 1st picture
Thanks for the grey screen info now I know it's just not my tv. Others out there with 2017 QLED models please chime in and let us know if you are still seeing a "White Flash" using any device (Tivo, Cable boxes, PS3 or PS4 etc).
I'm still different colored flashes occasionally with my QN55Q7FAMFXZA ( Qled 2017) even though service tech visit back in March 2017 said tv was fine when entering service menu. Is there any fix coming for this model? Not that tv is unwatchable but it does happen.
I’ve been in contact with QA enigineers for the past few months. Latest update I got is that they bought a PS4 Pro (device the issue occurs most commonly with) for the lab and are running tests. They just started at the beginning of the month so I’m crossing my fingers that there’s an update that fixes it soon.
I’ve got 3 months left on my warranty and customer service keeps offering to send out a repair crew but If there’s no hardware fix and they can’t replicate the issue, Samsung says I’d have to pay for the visit. I refuse to give them any money and it happens so sporadically that I doubt they could reproduce it.
Things I've tried with no success: Adjusting just about every setting involving video on my tv and player. Resetting and unplugging both multiple times. Swapping out all HDMI cables. Sending my 4K player to Samsung service center (having discovered this thread, I'm fairly sure the issue is the tv though). Having a new one connect box and cable sent out (accepted solution on this thread). None of these things worked
I was advised to disconnect from a surge protector because there’s a built in surge protector in the TV itself. Try to get them to send you a new connect box. I’ve noticed on several posts that seems to be a temporary fix. I’m experiencing saying the same exact thing. I can’t even start a service ticket because a pop up window interferes to let me know they don’t offer service in my area. Going through the gamut right now through e-chats as well as live phone calls. Reset everything. Replaced everything. Swapped everything out as directed. This is a joke! Sad thing is I purchased it from BJ’s and got it for a steel! It was originally $1200 and was on sale for $599 and they don’t carry it anymore.
