Google Wallet only works after loading app

Hi, using Beta3 on S24U, and I have Google Wallet set as the default NFC payment app. However, it only works if I bring up the Wallet app. Is this because of the Beta? In the past, payment would work as soon as the phone was unlocked (and on the homescreen for example).

Sometimes beta breaks certain nice apps like Google wallet

Yes, in previous years it would refuse to work at all in betas. But this time it works if the app is open, but doesn't work on the homescreen.

So it seems like a bug. I have reported it but wanted to see if I was the only one who sees this

My nfc payments are not working currently on Google wallet. It randomly stopped and says phone does not meet security requirements.
