RCS ETA for unlocked phones?

I've read several different accounts that this works but when I try the normal "hack" to get RCS to work with Samsung messages, it no longer works. (Use Google phone app, enable IMS settings blah blah). Any ETA from Samsung on when unlocked phone RCS support will roll out? I know this has been asked a billion and a half times already but I think some clarification is still needed. I'm on TMobile with an unlocked s20+ and chat settings are enabled but RCS doesn't work with a fellow tmobile/Google pixel/google messages user..

you can activate it yourself. go too YouTube > turn on RCS samsung Device using Google Dialer

Using the Google dialer worked for me. Unlocked S20 5G on AT&T.
