Select Your Country or Region screen

What is the purpose of the Select Your Country or Region screen (1st screenshot)? This is located in Developer Options (2nd screenshot).

(In the past, the user had to factory reset to change the country/region.)

This screen shouldn't be blank. At least United States and Canada need to be up here (for North America).

Here are some good uses for the country selection screen. One of them is the carrier selection for SIM and eSIM.

Depending on the region, multiple carriers may appear. For the USA, it could be AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and other USA MVNOs. For Canada, it could be Bell, Rogers, Telus, and other Canada MVNOs.

If the carrier/MVNO is not listed (i.e., Google Fi, Boost Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, Consumer Cellular, Cricket, etc.), the Other Ways to Connect to a Mobile Network option is used. In some cases, adding an eSIM may require an alternative method not listed.

This is used when adding an MVNO not on the list.


When we tried with a travel eSIM (Ubigi), the phone thinks it is a foreign SIM, which is why the error "Sorry, this SIM/eSIM is not supported" is displayed and the eSIM is removed.
