Do we need to wipe cache partition after updating Google play services or only after updating the Samsung OS update?

It used to be recommended after an OS update. The wipe cache partition (WCP) option was removed with the February security patch. This is in line with other Android OEMs who have also removed that option from recovery. Seamless updates with A/B partitions make manually clearing device cache after a system update moot.

It appears that WCP has also been removed for devices older than the S25 and A55 series, that have traditional cache partition structures. I've seen some speculation that this is because virtual A/B partitions have been enabled for those devices. Samsung, of course, has not confirmed anything, but this approach would make sense.

After the February patch I've felt really disappointed. Google Play services started draining my battery madly. I'm talking about the app being over 12 hours in the background and a screen time of just 3 to 4 hours. Last thing to try is a factory wipe after I'm done backing it up. I have an S24 Ultra by the way. If anyone has a tip to stop Play Services from draining the battery it will be welcomed.

Google Play Services doesn't directly drain battery. Rather, the apps using it drain battery, although Play Services will appear to be the culprit. See the "battery drain" post for tips on what to do:
