Dex Mirroring issues

This says I can use both screen mirroring and tochpad modes with dex.

But neither one is appearing in the notification menu and I don't know how to fix it. All it says is I'm connected to dex on pc and nothing else. I can use them independently but that isn't really what I want. Any ideas?

This option is available only when you are connected to a monitor. 

It is not avialable when connected to a PC.

The page you reference says "In your phone’s notifications menu, you’ll see several new options after connecting to your monitor, including the choice to move between screen mirroring and DeX mode."

I tested on my Note 10+ and the option is there when a monitor is connected but not when connected to a PC.

That's annoying, both options are always mentioned together so I assumed it would all work the same. 

I assume it has to be connected with hdmi aswell then?
