I hook my Note 8 to my TV through a USB-C to HDMI hub, and Dex starts fine and displays on the TV. No problems there. But I can't find a way to switch to screen mirroring only. I do not see a screen on my phone when I connect it that lets you pick Dex or Screen Mirroring like I see when I google this. Also, the other instructions I have seen to click on the Android system icon at the bottom and select screen mirror from the pop us does not do that, a pop up does appear but it says nothing about switching to screen mirroring. Any ideas?

Hey there @user7grIESed3v There are actually two options that you can try to change this mode:

1st  Option: From the home screen go to settings > Connections > More Connection settings > Look for HDMI Mode, Select > You will have the option to toggle between Samsung DeX and Screen Mirroring.

2nd option: From the home screen go to settings > More > Look for HDMI Mode, Select > You will have the option to toggle between Samsung DeX and Screen Mirroring.

Let me know if this helps.

That worked! With one more step, had to take the cover off the phone. When I got to the last step, I got a message that screen mirroring would not work with the cover on. I have a samsung LED cover, taking off made all the difference. Why the cover has anything to do with screen mirroring I don't know, but it all works now.

I took off the phone cover and it worked immediately. Thank you so much!

Can I please have the model number for the device you are trying to use the Note 8 and smart view with?

Nothing on this thread helped. However,  my experience with a dex pad was the software interface was only accessible from the monitor. When I finally purchased a wired mouse and connected it to the dex pad I was able control dex and mirror my s8 phone screen with the TV. Everything I read on the Internet said I should be able to do this from my phone. After talking with Samsung tech support for 1-1/2 hours I was told that we had exhausted all options other than a hard restart of my phone. Then I finally purchased a wired mouse which appears to be what I needed. Perhaps the hard restart will make the interface accessible from my phone,  but I now have no reason to go there. P.S. searching for dex on the settings menu indicated it was present on my phone, but there was no way to open it from there. I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung made a software change without updating any of their docmentatio
