Samsung Apps and Services
Hello Samsung, it'd be pretty neat to bring back Linux on DeX.
At the moment DeX is a super well made feature but it's really only lacking in software. That software being legimate desktop applications, ie Linux.
It was worked on sometime in the past but was canned for whatever reason, we don't know why.
The Linux marketshare has doubled in recent years, thanks especially to the steam deck.
According to the Google playstore, over 10M people have downloaded Termux to run Linux software (keep in mind most people have downloaded Termux from other places because the playstore version had historicallu been outdated so its likely a lot higher). There is a significant amount of people who would want and get use out of Linux software on their Samsung devices, as well as it be a significant reason to switch to the Galaxy life.
Last year for Apple's WWDC a big selling point of the latest iPhone was that a few AAA developers would make games for the newest iPhone. It would be a huge flex on Samsung's behalf to just run millions of new games or programs due to LoD.
Linux could be tightly integrated with Samsung services - such as the Galaxy Store being the one-stop-shop for all the programs, applications and games. That alone would make the service relevant for a lot of people. Collaborate with Steam to distribute their games on the store if you need to.
Linux applications would ideally be manages just like any other Android app - could be added to the homescreen, could be window-layered in DeX, managed in settings, set up in app pairs, etc.
In a perfect world, these apps could be run just on the phones or tablets or folds even without DeX.
To the average user it's just more software they can try out and enjoy.
Please consider it. It's been a feature long asked for years to return and it was proven to work well.

As someone who fairly recently switched to Linux, that would be awesome!

I'm glad I'm not alone with that assessment.
Samsung had recently posted a community suggestions box for DeX, and there has been a lot of requests for Linux on DeX as well as being one of the most frequently requested features on the r/SamsungDeX subreddit.
I'm really hoping Samsung catches the hint and goes through with it. It'd be a gamechanger

Yes, and put it as a laptop OS choice. We are buying hardware that's not living up to its full potential on Windows.

Dude could you imagine if samsungs laptops was DeX but super powerful? It'd kinda be like a MacOS competitor š¤
I'd love to see Samsung tackle the lapdock market as well. It'd be a no-brainer for college students tbh
That might not have been what you were talking about but you got me thinking.....

I have 2 distros on my 360 right now. It is pretty easy to do it, and it is powerful in the Linux environment. Lightening fast. The bios is one of the best, no guess work. Just make some choices.
